If a woman has problems giving birth with a breech baby, take 14 pubic hairs of her husband, mix with wild boar lard to the size of a soy bean and have her drink it.
This will bring the baby back into the right position.

In Miyazaki in 日向国中村 Naｋamura village
someone had a strange swelling on the cheek which broke open. Somethink like the lard of a wild boar came out. There were also 200 hairs that came out.
After that, the wound healed fast.

Shimokobe Yukihira was a Japanese samurai of the late Heian and early Kamakura period. He was one of the closest retainers of Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first Kamakura shōgun, and was a personal tutor to the second, Minamoto no Yoriie.
... He reputedly had tremendous martial skill, particularly with the bow, demonstrating his skill frequently in yabusame archery, yumi-hajime (弓始) and deer-hunting.
He later taught archery to Minamoto no Yoriie.

At that time his wife was just about to give birth. Soon she had a girl, but the baby hat a wound from the breast to the stomach, just like a wild boar cut open with a knife.
The woman got divorced soon.

The Onishi family of 城辺町中緑太衛門駄馬 had once shot a wild boar and was cursed.
They venerated the wild boar as Yamanokami.
In autumn, wild boars come to the fields and destroy the rice fields, eating the rice. Sometimes they dig 猪穴 holes beside the fields.

Once upon a time, there was a fox named
Osan-gitsune 於三狐, a fox with three tails.
There lived a man in the village named 寅 Tora, and these two tried to deceive each other.
Once Osan and Tora were talking, Osan asked Tora what he was afraid of. "Wild boars", answered Tora.
Since then every time the two met the fox took a ten Yen bill and transformed it into a wild boar. Tora took the bills and made a good fortune.

Once a person came home fom 猪鼻岬 Inohana Misak in the evening, when he met a monster. He became very afraid, but then a dog appeared and protected him.
The monster had a huge split mouth from ear to ear.
When he came home safely, he prepared red auspicious rice for the dog. After eating the food, the dog disappeared.

The ネインヤ Neinya were greatful and gave him a dog. Then they hunted a 猪 wild boar for him.
His brother got jealous and came to borrow the dog. But the dog did not follow him, so he killed it.
The man burried the dog, then bamboo grew on the area and the man, selling it, became very rich.
His brother tried to imitate him again, but became ill and died.

At the temple 福泉寺 Fukuzen-Ji there came a wild boar and drunk the hot water for the Buddhist tea offering.
At that time, the voice of a baby was heard from behind 仏殿 the Buddha Hall.
When the priest went to have a look, this wild boar had been giving birth to a human baby and was trying to give it milk.
In the evening 塩田庄大黒丸 Daikokumaru from 藤津郡 the Fujitsu district had a dream:
An old priest appeared and told him: Your child had been killed. But your child is now in the back of the temple hall of Fukuzen-Ji. You may go and get it .
So he went to get the child. It was later to become the famous 和泉式部 Izumi Shikibu.

Izumi Shikibu 和泉式部 (b. 976?)
was a mid Heian period Japanese poet. She is a member of the Thirty-six Medieval Poetry Immortals (中古三十六歌仙 chūko sanjurokkasen). She was the contemporary of Murasaki Shikibu, and Akazome Emon at the court of empress Joto Mon-in.

... The legend has it that namikozo originated from one of the two straw dolls produced from the harvested rice. Priest Gyoki (highly respected priest during mid 8th century) chanted the sutra and told the dolls to help the farmers to forewarn the storms and threw them into the river.
弘法大師が猪除け Kobo Daishi later declared these dolls to be shishi yoke, shishiyoke 猪よけ / 猪除け boar deterrents.

inugami 犬神 and 弘法大師 Kobo Daishi
Once upon a time
when Kobo Daishi was roaming in Shikoku, a farmer had been very helpful and friendly, so Daishi sama wrote a special amulet and told the farmer to place it near his field to 猪除け ward off damage of wild boars. But the farmer was not allowed to open the amulet. When he seecretly took a peek, he saw the painting of a dog.
This dog jumped out of the painting and became Inugami.
- In another version it was a painting with four dogs which became alive.
- This legend is also told in 愛媛県 Ehime, Matsuyama.

The principal god of Akaiiwa Shrine is Okuninushi.
The shrine also enshrines the gods of Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Inatahime-no-Mikoto. According to myth, Okuninushi in his younger days incurred the enmity of his brothers over Yakamihime and met his death in this area after a large rock that burned red was dropped on him. However, he was then supposedly revived by his mother. Worshippers from inside and outside the prefecture come to pray for recovery at this shrine that is called the setting of recovery and rebirth.

Once upon a time in Oita, Usa city 大分県宇佐市
an old woman found a sake cup on the riverside and took three sips of water with it.
She turned into a young woman of 17 or 18 years.
Her husband became envious, took the sake cup and run to the river to take three sips.
But because he was so eager to turn younger, he changed into a baby !

Late Edo Period Painting by Kaihō Yūtoku, Sairin-ji Temple 西林寺, Kyoto.

In paintings and woodblock prints, the boar often appears as the steed of the tengu or of their king, Sōjōbō 僧正坊. Sōjōbō is closely linked to famed warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune 源義経 (1159-1189), one of Japan's most revered samurai. In a well-known legend, Yoshitsune lived among the tengu in his youth and received training in the arts of war from Sōjōbō himself.
Note:
The Buddhist martial deity Marishiten is also often shown riding atop a boar.

Another possible interpretation of the above image relates to the following Zen story:
"One day a hunter was in the mountains when he happened to see a snake killing a bird. Suddenly a boar appeared and began to devour the snake. The hunter thought he should kill the boar, but changed his mind because he did not want to be a link in such a chain, and cause his own death by the next predator to come along. On his way home he heard a voice call to him from the top of a tree. It was the voice of a tengu. It told him how lucky he was, for had he killed the boar, the tengu would have killed him.
The man subsequently moved into a cave and never killed another animal."

hence "Inawashiro" (猪苗代).
An alternative theory finds the word to have its origin in the language of the Ainu people, but in any case it points to a deep connection with the cultivation of rice.
Present day Inawashiro owes its form to a large-scale eruption of the Mt. Bandai and Mt. Nekoma volcanoes that occurred between 40,000 and 50,000 years ago. There are also indications that the area around Lake Inawashiro was already inhabited by indigenous peoples 12,000 years ago. Especially in the southeast base area of the mountain facing the lake, ruins from the Jomon and Paleolithic/Pre-Jomon periods are still visible. The ruins that have been found in the bottom of the lake in the Nagahama, Kanisawahama and Sanjogata areas have been dated back to the Jomon and Kofun periods.

Lake Inawashiro

The water level was considerably less during the Jōmon period as numerous artifacts and ceramic fragments have been found offshore.
The lake water
is an important source for irrigation in the Aizu region of western Fukushima Prefecture. An irrigation canal was completed during the Edo period and another, the Asaka Canal, in 1882. A third canal completed in 1915 supplies the city of Kōriyama with drinking and industrial water. The water also supplies a number of hydroelectric power plants. The lake is also an important tourist and leisure attraction in Fukushima Prefecture.

The Shrine Ida Jinja (also known as 猪田村住吉神社 Sumiyoshi Jinja in Idamura), has been built by a Kotengu.
Until WWII, there were also ema votive tablets of the Kotengu.
In former times, the Kotengu from nearby mountains would also come for the festival, make merry and perform a lion dance.

In Iga there was also a Kotengu called 小天狗清蔵 Seizo. He helped to protect the local shrines and temples from the fury of the army of Oda Nobunaga.
He also lived in the temple Shoin-Ji.

At the temple 勝因寺 Shoin-Ji an old Kotengu used to live in hjding. He is said to have made 勝因寺梵鐘 the large temple bell, which is one of the oldest in Mie prefecture.

Far away in Takashiri lived a farmer named 幾蔵 Ikuzo.
One night, the Tengu Deity appeared to him, placed a golden halberd and a golden Gohei wand in the ground and told him, if he made offerings of お神酒 ritual rice wine and お灯明 light, there would be no more damage of wild board in his fields.
Ikuzo did as he was told and had no more damage. Other people came to him and he could cure them of their illness. He soon became a rich man.
Envious villagers tried to take away the halberd and Gohei from Ikuzo, but they had no good luck with it.

In the South-West of 七北田川右岸山村館跡 Nanakitagawa Ugan Yamamura at 三峰山 Mount Mitsumine there is a memorial stone.
It is in the estate of the former 白石家 Shiroishi family.
Once a family member was on its way home from Sendai, over the 中山峠 Nakayama Toge pass, when he saw a wolf at the roadside, its mouth wide open and obviously in pain. The wolf had a thorn in its mouth, so the man pulled it out. That night, he heard a sound at the front gate and saw a wild boar, as a sign of gratitude presented by the wolf.
From that day on, when the man had to walk home every day, the wolf would show up and make sure he could get over the pass safely.
The stone is in memory of this brave wolf.
Every year on the 8th day of the fourth lunar month, the family makes offerings of sekihan 赤飯 auspicious red rice.
They call this wolf オボタテ Obotate.

The 望月家 Mochizuki family of 小河内 Ogochi village tells a story of 姑 the mother in law in the fourth generation.
She was in the mountain hut near the fields, when she went to collect some awa 粟 millet. She helped a wolf who had a bone stuck in his upper jaw.
This 山犬 wolf begun to protect the fields of the family and made sure no 猪 wild boar, 鹿cear or 兎 rabbit would come.
Sometimes the wolf killed a deer and presented it at the gate of the hut as food.
When the season was over and the harvest finished, the farmer's wife hung the rest of the deer meat on a tree and wrote on a wooden plate, mumbling
"Are you there? Are you not there?" At that moment the wolf came out of the forest and greeted her.

In a trap for a wild boar near the hut of a charcoal maker they found a young wolf and set him free.
The next day the wolf helped to hunt a wild boar into the trap.

A man saw a wolf catching a wild boar. He asked the wolf:
"Please let me have the skin!" and indeed, the skin was there the next day.
The wolf is really a well-behaved animal.

At 玉置山 Mount Tamakisan at 大和十津川 Totsukawa village they venerate a wolf as the messenger of the Deity and call it
タカタケサン Takatake San.
They pray at a sanctuary during the season when the wild boars destroy the fields.
On the way back, a wolf is usually following the person.
Back home they place an amulet from the shrine near the field to protect it.

Tamaki-Jinja is located near the top of the Tamaki Mountain which is 1076m tall.
It had been selected as the UNESCO World Heritage, as part of the Kiisanchi-no-reijo and Sankei-Michi. Starting off from the oldest Cedar tree, "Jindaisugi" which had been reported to be over 3000 year old, this Shrine is surrounded by the natural monument.
The main Shrine
is very rare for a Shrine which built in the mountain because it is a legit Gambrel building made of Zelkova. You can feel the scent of the history from this main Shrine surrounded by Cedars. From late April to early May, rhododendron flowers create a beautiful scenery.
All of the sliding doors
in the Shrine office are decorated with the painting of Kachozu (luxury floral and bird themed paintings) such as Pine tree, Peony, peacock, parrot and crane. These painting are called "Saisokubutsuki". Those offices are also named according to the painting of the sliding door painting such as "Kujakunoma" (Peacock room) and "Oimatsunoma" (Pine tree room).
There is another shrine called "Tamaishisha"
if you climb up from the precinct upon the top of the hill. Tamaishisha considered as the original of Tamaki-Jinja Shrine which has no main building only ancient pebble stone left.

It is so beautiful, it was elected as Nr. 73 of 東京百景 the 100 special sights of Tokyo.

Sumida, Narihira 一丁目 - 三丁目 first to third sub-district

Named after . Ariwara no Narihira 在原業平 (852 - 880) .
Waka poet of the Heian period.

The Narihirazuka 業平塚 Mound for Narihira used to be in the compound of 南蔵院 Nanzo-In and 業平神社 Narihira Shrine.
Narihira had visited this area and the mound in in his memory. Legend says he died here.
The name of the bridge, 業平橋 Narihirabashi, is also very old.
In 1662 the bridge was built East of the Shrine 業平神社 Narihira Jinja.

The name of this area in rather new, since 1872 when 小梅業平町 Koume Narihiracho was formed, and renamed in 1930.
Now famous for being close to the Tokyo Skytree Tower.

南蔵院も葛飾区に Nanzo-In has been moved to Katsushika ward.
It is famous for the statue of

中ノ郷業平町 Nakanogo Narihiracho became first and second sub-district of Narihira.
In 1967, it merged with 平川橋1-5丁目 Hirakawabashi 1 to 5th sub-district to become Narihira.

The former Shrine 業平天神社 Narihira Tenjinsha, who gave the name to the area, was lost.

Another theory about the name includes the grave of a Samurai from Chiba,

Kinshi 錦糸 Kinshi district - "brocade thread"

former name 錦糸町 Kinshicho, Kinshimachi

The name goes back to the old canal 錦糸堀 Kinshibori.
Around 1660, the area of Honjo was developed and the Kinshibori canal built.
Some say it is a local dialect for 岸堀 Kishibori "canal at the shore".
Another possibility mentions kinshi 琴糸 strings for a Koto, that were made nearby.

In the ghost stories of 本所七不思議 Honjo Nanafushigi is the canal
置いてけぼり / おいてけ堀 Oitekebori, said to have been the Kinshibori.

. Oitekebori, Oiteke-bori 置いてけ堀 / 置行堀 / 置いてけぼり "leave it behind - canal" .
This canal is near Kinshicho 錦糸町.

The fishermen heard the call to "leave it behind" and threw their catch back in the water or left their baskets just standing there.
One legend advises to throw three fish back into the canal. If you do not do so, you will get lost on your way back home and wander around the whole night.
kinshi 禁止 "don't do this" ... turned into 錦糸.

One legend tells of a 河童 Kappa, who took the catch.
It even got its own statue in the 錦糸堀公園 Kinshibori Park.

... When we get off the train at Kinshicho Station, we first head towards the shopping in the buildings lined up outside of the South Exit. There is a monument in memory of Ito Sachio inscribed with one of his poems. Believe it or not, back during the Meiji Period (1868-1912), this area mainly was used for ranches. Ito wrote various works during his time while running a cow-milking business here.
Termina, a department store directly connected to the station, offers everything from clothing, to household goods, to groceries. The adjacent amusement facility of Tokyo Rakutenchi offers saunas and natural hot spring baths as a way to relax after your shopping and enjoying things like the movie theaters and bowling alleys.
WINS Kinshicho,
off-track horse racing and betting, is located on Keiyo Road across from the station rotary. Just behind the building sits Koto-ji temple. Kobayashi Ichizo, a businessman who developed the Tokyo Rakutenchi (noted before), built this temple wishing for the city's development and enshrined Koto Kannon in the temple. The horse-headed deity Bato Kannon can also be found on the grounds and just may have some connection with the nearby WINS complex.
Oiteke-bori
A five-minute walk to the south of Kinshicho Station takes us to Kinshibori Park. A statue of a kappa (a river monster) stands at this site that was previously the Kinshi-bori moat, or more popularly known as "Oiteke-bori."
According to one of the local ghost stories, "The Seven Mysteries of Honjo," back during the Edo Period (1603-1867), some people were out fishing in the moat and caught an abnormally large amount of fish one day. Just as they were about to happily go home with their big catch, a scary voice was came from somewhere inside the moat saying, "Oiteke! (Leave your things and get out of here!)" Everyone was terrified but still took their fish baskets and hurried home.
Upon arrival, they reluctantly opened their fish baskets only to find them completely empty. ...
