河井荃廬墓 Grave of Kawai Senro (1871 - 1945)
- quote -
Kawai, Senro [Senro; Bokusen; Usen; Tansō; Kyūsetsu Jōjin; Chigen Dojin]
Japanese seal-carver, scholar and connoisseur. He was the son of Kawai Sen'emon, a Kyoto seal-engraver.
He studied Chinese classics with Hayashi Sōkyō and became the pupil of Shinoda Kaishin (1827–1902), who followed the style of seals used by painters of the Chinese Zhe school in the 15th and 16th centuries; in this genre Senro showed exceptional ability. In 1900 Senro went to China, where he studied under Wu Changshi, with whom he had previously corresponded. Under Wu he learnt modern carving techniques. After returning to Japan and passing his family name to a pupil, he went to live in Tokyo at the invitation of the patron Mitsui Teihiyō [Takakata] (1867–1945).
Subsequently he visited China almost every year and concentrated on importing and studying Qing period (1644–1911) calligraphy, painting and culture. ...

Kuro Boozu 黒坊主 Kuro-Bozu, Kurobozu, Black Monk Yokai
APPEARANCE:
A kuro bōzu is a dark, shadowy yokai which looks somewhat like a bald-headed Buddhist monk—however, its exact appearance is vague and difficult to make out. It's entire body is black, and it wears black robes. Its face has somewhat bestial features. It has a long tongue, and it reeks of rotting fish. Its hands and feet are said to be indiscernible. It can change its height rapidly, becoming a towering monster in an instant. It is extremely fast, and can run as fast as if it were flying.

The Nobiagari (のびあがり, ノビアガリ, Nobiagari)
is a yōkai that can take many forms, most commonly in that of a priest or a living shadow.
The Nobiagari is known for creeping up behind people and, as soon as they turn around, growing quickly to a great height. This usually causes the person to look up too high and therefore fall over.
Although the Nobiagari is mostly harmless and does this as a prank, some may take this opportunity to attack the victim's neck.
