A temple of 天台宗 the Tendai sect.
It was founded by priest Chisho Daishi 智證大師（814 - 891）on his travels to the Eastern provinces. He carved a statue of Fudo Myo-O and founded 23 temples in the region.
During the Edo period, the temple became quite rich.

It has a lot of colorful carvings on the walls, like dragons, phoenix, the three monkeys (no see no hear no speak evil) and more.
