Ruriko-Ji, Inari
Rurikoji
Fukaya city, Inari town North

The main statue is 釈迦如来 Shaka Nyorai.
The pilgrim statue is 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai.

The temple is related to 比叡山延暦寺 Hieizan, Enryaku-Ji.

There are two dates about its origin, 807 and 836, both in the early Heian period (794 - 1185).
The temple has a history of more than 1200 years.

Nio Mon Gate

Yakushi Do Hall

Hondo Main Hall

Gate

Jizo Do Hall

Bell tower

At the temple Ruriko-Ji there is a pond called 錫杖池 "Shakuji Pond".
Priest Sekihei came here first, there was no water.
So he stamped his staff into the ground and water begun to flow.
This is the origin of the name Shakuji Pond.

The Kannon statue is 十一面観世音菩薩 Juichimen Kanzeon with 11 Heads.
It is 65 cm high.
It was made by 毘首羯磨 Bishu Katsuma - Viśvakarman.
- - - quote
Vishvakarma or Vishvakarman (Sanskrit: विश्वकर्मा, lit. 'all maker', IAST: Viśvakarmā)
is a craftsman deity and the divine architect of the devas in contemporary Hinduism.
In the early texts, the craftsman deity was known as Tvastar
and the word "Vishvakarma" was originally used as an epithet for any powerful deity.
However, in many later traditions, Vishvakarma became the name of the craftsman god.
Vishvakarma crafted all of the chariots of the devas
and weapons including the Vajra of the god Indra.
Vishvakarma was related to the sun god Surya through his daughter Samjna/Randal.
According to the legend, when Samjna left her house due to Surya's energy,
Vishvakarma reduced the energy and created various other weapons using it.
Vishvakarma also built various cities like Lanka, Dvaraka, and Indraprastha.
According to the epic Ramayana, the vanara (forest-man or monkey)
Nala was the son of Vishvakarma, created to aid the avatar Rama.

- Chant of the temple

The date of the founding is not clear.
It was probably built 400 years ago in the center of the town.
Todo Takatora became lord of Imabari.
In 1891, the temple and all its treasures were lost in a fire.
In 1892, it was rebuilt.

The temple was founded in the Muromachi Period (1390 - 1573) by 良観和尚 Priest Ryokan.

Ise Ueno was annexed and the Temple Jizo-In was built.
The main hall had statues of 薬師如来 Yakushi Nyorai, 毘沙門天 Bishamon Ten, 聖観音 Sho-Kannon and others.
Many people come to the Jizo Hal for 八月地蔵盆 the Jizo Bon ritual in the eights lunar month.

In 1870, the Temple was lost to a huge flooding.

In the compound are two large goyomatsu 五葉松 pine trees (Pinus parviflora), one male and one female.
